The owners of this garden wanted to re-develop their courtyard area to utilise the space in a way which incorporated a seating area close to the house without compromising the turning circle of their vehicles and requested a "quirky" design solution.
A bespoke metal pergola was designed to provide a focal point from the house and as you drive into the courtyard. Planted with clematis and wisteria it also provides additional privacy from the neighbouring property.
A raised bed was built in brick to enhance the existing curved wall on the opposite side of the courtyard, complete with shade tolerant planting.
A water feature was requested by the owners and this was provided with a terracotta urn imported from Crete. The seating area was paved in natural sandstone and granite setts. Planting is informal with emphasis on architectural foliage and scent.
